About

SO_logo_bwSustainable Overlook, a volunteer committee of the Overlook Neighborhood Association, was started in 2010.

Our Mission

To engage in practical action towards sustainability; raise awareness in the neighborhood about possibilities for sustainable living; and to strengthen our community by building connections and local resources. And to have fun along
the way!

The purpose of the group is to support neighbors in implementing projects for our community that enhance livability through sustainable action and know-your-neighbor. Past projects have included recycling round-ups, a eco-documentary film series, seed and plant exchanges, an intersection repair, an annual yard sale/free share, an annual garden tour, gardening classes and more. We welcome new members and suggestions for projects that build community and make Overlook a greener neighborhood!

Sustainable Overlook is a Transition neighborhood group.  That is, we work towards solutions at a local level to address climate change, energy descent and economic instability.

We are proud to collaborate with Metro in support of their Healthy Lawn and Garden Pledge program and are grateful for their support of our Pesticide Free Neighborhood project. For lots of great information on natural gardening and recycling go to www.oregonmetro.gov/garden

Sustainable Overlook was formerly known as ONeST (Overlook NEighborhood Sustainability Team.)
